YS Jagan Named as Accused After his Car Runs over a Man

The leader of the YSR Congress Party and former Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has been identified as a suspect in a deadly traffic incident that purportedly took place during his journey to Rentapalla village in Palnadu district, as reported by a police officer on Sunday. On June 18, Jagan Mohan Reddy traveled to Rentapalla to visit a relative of a YSRCP official who had taken his own life a year prior. His vehicle passed through the Etukuru bypass. Guntur district Superintendent of Police, S. Satish Kumar, stated during a press briefing on Sunday evening that "after examining several pieces of evidence, we confirmed that the victim was found underneath the wheels of Jagan Mohan Reddy's vehicle." The police official mentioned that authorities were alerted to an elderly man named Singaiah, who suffered serious injuries from bleeding and was taken to the hospital, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead upon arrival.

Initially, a case was filed under Section 106(1) of the BNS law for causing death by negligence after a complaint was lodged by the victim's wife, Cheeli Lurdhu Mary, at the local police station. Subsequent reviews of CCTV footage, drone images, and surrounding evidence led them to establish that the Ex-Chief Minister's vehicle in the convoy had indeed struck the deceased. Consequently, the police modified the charges to incorporate Sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 49 of the BNS (Abetment), enhancing their investigation into the events surrounding the incident. Additionally, the investigation brought in other individuals as defendants, including Jagan Mohan Reddy's driver Ramana Reddy, Personal Assistant K. Nageshwar Reddy, senior YSRCP figure Y.V. Subbareddy, former MLA Perni Venkataramaiah, and former Minister Vidadala Rajini. Superintendent Kumar informed the press that these individuals have been added to the list of accused, emphasizing that legal proceedings will advance following appropriate legal protocols and regulations.
