On Tuesday, Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan launched 11 food processing units with a budget of Rs 1719 Cr. Jagan has inaugurated six units and laid the foundation stone for the remaining five units. Around 40,307 farmers in the state will be benefitted from these new 11 processing units. The units hold a capacity of 3.14 lakh tons of food annually.
YS Jagan has inaugurated the units online from his camp office at Mangalagiri. Annamayya and Chittoor districts will have a millet processing unit and for Onion and Tomato a processing unit will be developed in Dharmavaram in Satya Sai district. He also laid a foundation stone for Mondelez India Foods in Sri City which will have a capacity of 1600 Cr unit.
Jagan said that only Andhra Pradesh is providing MSP even for millets linking them with PDS through RBK. The government is also planning to launch 421 primary processing units in the wake to help farmers connected to 1912 RBKs and 43 cold storage rooms. Chocolate manufacturers Cadbury and Bournvita are ready to invest 1500 cr in AP. Andhra Pradesh's initiative towards farmers, manufacturing units and storage is an awakening move before elections.
