Chandrababu Naidu, the leader of the Telugu Desam Party, has returned to the Andhra Pradesh assembly after a 31-month absence. He had previously left the house, claiming disrespect towards his family. In November 2021, Naidu vowed to only come back once he became the Chief Minister, a promise he fulfilled after his party's landslide victory in the state elections. The TDP secured 135 seats out of 175, while their allies, the Jana Sena and BJP, won 21 and 8 seats, respectively. As Naidu entered the assembly today, the entire house rose to warmly welcome him, signaling his fourth term as the state's Chief Minister. He had departed the assembly on November 19, 2021, citing abusive remarks made by the then-ruling Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) members about his wife. Visibly emotional, Naidu walked out of the assembly with folded hands during a debate on women's empowerment, declaring he would not return.

Remarkably, he has reclaimed the Chief Minister's position and emerged as a prominent figure within the NDA alliance, which has secured a historic third term at the Centre.
