Andhra Pradesh To Host International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage Meet

Andhra Pradesh government will host the 25th Congress of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) in Vizag in November. Along with this Vizag will also host the 74th ICID international executive council in November from 1st to 8th. Water resources minister of Andhra Pradesh Ambati Rambabu has organized a press conference and announced the details.

The international meet is a joint venture of the state and central government. The theme for the meet is “Tackling Water Scarcity in Agriculture”. Ambati Ram Babu also released a brochure of the conference and sent a special invitation to the President of India Droupadi Murmu and also to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Both are expected to attend the meeting as the delegates from all over the world will attend.

5000 delegates from 80 countries and 700 technical representatives are expected for this international meet. India is hosting ICID after 57 years. ICID is going to discuss mainly farm techniques, conserving water and water productivity. Cumbum Tank in Prakasam district, Kurnool-Cuddapah (KC) Canal, Porumamilla Anantharaja Sagaram Tank in Kadapa and Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage have received the World Heritage Stricture Awards, said ICID Vice President Dr K Yella Reddy on this occasion.
