Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother Heeraben Modi passed away during the early hours of today and her last rites are held in Gujarat's Gandhinagar. Narendra Modi reached Gandhinagar this morning after hearing about the news of the demise of Heeraben Modi. She was 99 when she breathed her last. She was admitted in a private hospital on Wednesday and she was undergoing treatment in UN Mehta Heart Hospital. "A glorious century rests at the feet of God... In Maa, I have always felt that trinity, which contains the journey of an ascetic, the symbol of a selfless Karmayogi and a life committed to values" posted Narendra Modi after her demise.

Modi is occupied with several programs and he is expected to launch several development projects today in West Bengal. For now, the events are postponed and he may launch them through a video conferencing soon. Heeraben Modi has been living with her younger son Pankaj Modi in their village Raysan near to Gandhinagar. During his visits to Gujarat, Narendra Modi would spend time with his mother. Several politicians, businessmen and the supporters of BJP expressed their grief at the demise of Heeraben Modi. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao expressed his condolences on the demise of Heeraben Modi. Narendra Modi completed the last rites of his mother and he left the crematorium soon.
