Two crucial BJP leaders, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan have been dropped from the decision-making body during a reshuffle. Maharashtra leader Devendra Fadnavis and BS Yediyurappa scored big after the recent political setbacks. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath who is the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for the second time also got a prominent place in the committee. The new committee has four new faces and the crucial decisions have been taken by Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. Nitin Gadkari’s removal from the committee turned out to be a major point of discussion. Nitin Gadkari is a senior minister in Modi’s cabinet.

There are reports that Nitin Gadkari shares a close connect with his mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Shivraj Chouhan has been a crucial BJP leader from the past two decades and he has served as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh several times. Yediyurappa was asked to submit his resignation as the Chief Minister of Karnataka last year after there were allegations of corruption. With Yediyurappa unhappy, BJP felt that this is the right time to retain him and get a prominent place in the party meetings. His community is very powerful and they have 18 percent of the votes in Karnataka. Former Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal too is named in the committee. Sarbananda made way for Himanta Biswa Sarma. Sarbananda Sonowal is placed in the Parliamentary board and the Central Election Committee. Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, BJP chief JP Nadda and the party's BL Santhosh are in the committee and they are not changed.
