Several health experts and researchers predicted about the third wave of coronavirus in India which is expected to start during the last week of August and it is predicted to reach the peaks in October. A committee of experts from the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) submitted a report to the Prime Minister's Office. The experts warned about the third wave saying that it would reach the peaks around October and asked the Centre to be prepared completely about the same. The experts also warned of children getting contracted with coronavirus during the third wave of coronavirus. The committee was set up as per the directions given by the Union Home Ministry.

The committee informed that the doctors, equipment and the stafff are nowhere close to the requirement as there are predictions that a large number of children will be impacted due to the third wave of coronavirus. The Centre is keen to bring the vaccination for children at the earliest and some of them are the final stages of clinical trials. The expert committee also said that the vaccination should be prioritised among the children with co-morbidities and special focus should be kept on those who are having disabilities. The committee also suggested that the coronavirus wards should be restructured in a way that the attendants can stay along with the kids.

The committee also said that the third wave will not be as severe as the second wave of the pandemic. The study is named 'Third Wave Preparedness: Children Vulnerability and Recovery' and it was researched on the possibility of coronavirus impacting the children and how to deal with the third wave of coronavirus pandemic. The experts revealed that there is 82 percent shortage of pediatricians in the primary health centers and there are 63 percent vacancies in the community health centers. The third wave of coronavirus can be complicated with new mutated variants.
