Total Lockdown in Assam’s Jorhat from July 9

Assam Government has decided to impose total lockdown in areas under Johrat municipal board from July 9 to July 15.

In order to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Assam and in accordance with the orders from District Magistrate and Chairperson of Jorhat, The area of Jorhat in Assam is going to be locked down completely starting 7pm of July 9 and would last up to July 15.

All the shops and markets will remain closed in the district for the whole one week.

Assam has reported 786 new coronavirus cases on Monday of which 598 cases are from Guwahati city.

The total number of cases in Assam has reached to 12,522 and the death toll has reached to 14.

The decision to close Jorhat district came after 19 new cases have been reported in Rojamaidam area on July 6.

All the government offices will also be closed and all the crowded palces like shopping malls, restaurants would also be closed as per the order.

The district administration has decided to utilize this lockdown period to conduct target testing of COVID-19 in the crowded areas of the district to know about possibility of community transmission in the town.
