Prime Minister Narendra Modi has on today attended the convocation ceremony at the Banaras Hindu University in his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi. While addressing the students at the university, the Prime Minister said that, "World faces several challenges. We should think about what role India can play in overcoming these challenges," PM Modi said.

Modi said at the function that, “If we want to be successful, then the first rule is that we must not let the student is us die.” Modi said, “I have attended many such ceremonies in the past, but to come here (BHU) on this special occasion is definitely special.” He stressed on the need for the youth to contribute in the society by saying, “Mahamana ji (Madan Mohan Malviya) and Mahatma Gandhi ji both wanted to teach youth how to contribute to the country.”

“What Mahamana did here (BHU), Mahatma Gandhi made a similar effort through the Gujarat Vidyapeeth”, he added. Modi stressed on the need for everyone to respect nature and to learn how to treat it with care and not to exploit it. “Exploitation of nature is a crime. Milking of the nature, (on the other hand), is our right. Here in India, a mother teaches her child, that the Sun and the Moon are his / her uncles. The love towards nature is in our blood”, he said, adding, “Conversation with Nature is important. We must shun our struggle with Nature.”

This is the sixth visit of Prime Minister Modi to his Lok Sabha constituency. The visit comes ahead of Parliament's Budget Session, scheduled to commence from February 23, which is expected to be stormy in view of the politically surcharged atmosphere prevailing in the country. His visit is on the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of 15th century Dalit poet Shri Ravidas..
