The BJP is yet to release its manifesto for the 2014 Lok Sabha election. According to reports, the saffron party will release its election manifesto on Monday, 7th April, the day India will begin the voting process to form its 16th Lok Sabha.

According to reports the release of the manifesto, prepared by Murli Manohar Joshi, was delayed as Mr. Modi and some top BJP leaders wanted to tweak the original one to give it more clarity and focus.

BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi wants the document to reflect his promises made at "Vision for 2014" speech, made in January at a BJP conclave. The Gujarat chief minister had talked of growth, economic revival, balanced development and agricultural growth at the conclave.

Modi has made Gujarat model of development the central plank of his campaign in the run up to the 2014 elections.

BJP's top decision-making body, which met on Monday, was of the opinion that the 60-page draft prepared by Murli Manohar Joshi was like a laundry list of promises. So it was decided to make the manifesto "lean and mean" giving it focus and clarity.

The new manifesto will have the slogan "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas" which means the participation of all and development for all. The manifesto will in all probability highlight Mr Modi's promise of 100 smart cities and power-on-demand.

Opinion polls have predicted Narendra Modi, 64, to be the frontrunner for the PM's job in the country.
