The 2014 Lok Sabha elections may see Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party (TDP) allying with the BJP over seat sharing in Andhra pradesh. Negotiations to close a deal are in the final stages of discussion between the top leaders of the two parties.

Talks were held in Delhi at Akali Dal MP Naresh Gujral's residence between the leaders of the BJP and the TDP. Gujral is Narendra Modi's chief negotiator for alliance building with other parties for the upcoming elections.

Gujral is making hectic efforts to close a deal at the earliest.

According to TDP leaders an agreement has been reached on seat sharing but the formal announcement is expected on Wednesday. The TDP is likely to contest 45 assembly and eight Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, while the BJP would field candidates from 15 assembly and five Lok Sabha seats.

BJP leader Arun Jaitley, who had played an important role to bring the two parties together for talks, is expected to make the formal announcement in Delhi.

However, BJP's Telangana president Kishan Reddy has stated that the deal is not yet final.

The BJP and TDP have been unable to reach an understanding on seat sharing in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana despite several round of talks between the leaders of the two parties.

Seemandhra or Coastal Andhra Pradesh has 175 assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats. While the newly formed Telangana has 119 assembly and 17 Lok Sabha seats.

Telangana will go into polls on April 30, while Seemandhra will have polling on May 7.
