Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley on Tuesday was full of praise for Manmohan Singh. Jaitley said that the prime minister's personal integrity had always been above board.

He may have attacked Singh over various issues on different occasions but his latest blog praised the prime minister and called him a "syana aadmi" or a wise man.

Jaitley said that Singh had an element of scholarship in his persona. He was always well read and well prepared on the subject that he would be dealing with.

Jaitley, who is the Leader of the Opposition in the Upper House, said that the Prime Minister "goes out with dignity and grace" after providing leadership to the UPA government for 10 years.

While calling the prime minister an elder statesman and a man of credibility, who guided the nation, Jaitley criticised Singh for not standing up at the right time. According to Jaitley, if only the PM had disagreed on certain issues then he would have been held in greater honour today.
