Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar stated on Sunday that Narendra Modi's role in the Gujarat riots of 2002 should be allowed to rest as courts have given a 'clean chit' to the Gujarat chief minister.
The Union agriculture minister was of the opinion that the clean chit was given after a judicial probe. So the matter of the 2002 riots should not be discussed further, Pawar added.
Pawar's statement comes within days of another similar comment made by Union minister Praful Patel, the agriculture minister's party colleague.
