The vaccination drive for the children aged between 15 and 18 years commenced today. The registration process started on January 1st 2022 after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the news on December 25th. He also announced that the booster dose for the people aged above 60 years with health conditions and the healthcare, frontline workers will start on January 10th. As per the reports by 3 PM, more than 12.3 lakh children received their first dose of coronavirus vaccination. All the states have been advised to administer Covaxin for the children. There are separate vaccination centres set up to avoid confusion.
The students can also avail walk-in registration at the vaccination centres from today with their Student ID Card. All those with the birth year of 2007 or before will be eligible for the vaccination under this category as per the report from the Union Health Ministry. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya visited a vaccination centre in New Delhi's RML Hospital. As per today, over 39.88 lakh beneficiaries got registered for the vaccination dose on CoWIN portal. With the huge spread of the Omicron variant, the government is keen to speed up the vaccination drive for children and for the adults with complications.
