Omicron Scare: Indian Government to Impose Restrictions

After the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, India is in recovering mode. The Omicron variant is now the new scare in the country. The new cases of the variant are increasing on a regular basis all over. New Delhi, Kerala and Karnataka states reported new cases of the variant. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal urged the Centre to allow booster doses for those who are fully vaccinated. He said that the booster dose can curb the spread of the new variant in the country. Kerala reported 4 new Omicron cases and New Delhi reported 6 new cases today as per the reports. No deaths due to the new variant are reported in the country.

The Centre and the Union Health Ministry urged the people not to gather in huge numbers and avoid traveling. They also asked the people to follow social distancing guidelines and wear facemasks when they are in the public. As per the update, the Centre is in plans to impose restrictions considering the Christmas and New Year seasons. The total number of Omicron variant cases in the country reached 171 and Maharashtra is leading the list with 54 cases. Delhi has 28, Rajasthan has 17, Telangana has 20, Karnataka has 19, Kerala has 15, Gujarat has 11, West Bengal has 4 and the states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Punjab have one case each.
