The Congress is moving towards National Conference to get support in Rajya Sabha to bring its leader Ghulam Nabi Azad in opposition in the Upper House.

The main opposition felt to ally where it has totally of 12 MLAs in the recently-held assembly polls which are, in short, to file nomination for the Rajya Sabha. Failing hears not only leads to the reputation of Azad, but also Congress that wants him to lead the opposition charge in the Upper House where the BJP government lacks the numbers.

The National Conference will support Congress Gulam Nabi Azad in the Feb 7 Rajya Sabha elections for four seats in Jammu and Kashmir.

This decision was taken after long meeting with National Conference leader Omar Abdulla and Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday in New Delhi.

The National Congress would field to field candidates for only three out of the four seats to ensure Azad's victory in these elections, sources said.

While Bhartiya Janta Party has filed two candidates they are Chander Mohan Sharma and Shamsher Singh - for two seats, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has fielded Nazir Ahmad Laway and Fayaz Ahmad Mir for the other two seats.
