BRS working president KTR has strongly objected Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy’s ignorance towards Government schools in the state.

Key points:

- Conspiracy to close 1,864 schools because there are no students.
- An attempt to keep poor and middle-class students away from public education.
- Failure to hire teachers, build infrastructure, and provide quality food.
- Public education on the brink of peril. BRS Working President KTR said it is not good for Telangana.
- The Chief Minister should consider surveys and solve the problems. A minister should be appointed for the education department.
- A committee should be formed with educationists and ministers to strengthen public education.

Bharat Rashtra Samithi Working President KTR expressed his grief that the Congress government in the state for seriously neglecting school education and keeping the poor and middle-class students away from education. There are reports that they are trying to close around 1,864 schools this year due to a lack of students.

If this is true, there is nothing more to worry about. He said that it is a shame that the government, which is supposed to strengthen government schools and provide quality education to poor and middle class students, is thinking of closing schools instead of taking steps in that direction. In 2024, the number of admissions in government schools has decreased by about 2.4 lakh compared to the previous year. He expressed concern that this is a danger sign for the state's education sector.

He also said that the Congress government had messed up public education within a matter of 8 months. He said that this predicament has arisen because of the government, which is supposed to find out why the number of students in government schools is decreasing and solve those problems. KTR alleged that admissions in government schools are decreasing mainly due to a lack of number of teachers compared to the number of students. He said that nearly 25 thousand posts of teachers are vacant in the state and they need to be filled immediately.

KTR also added that the government, which is supposed to solve the problems, is creating the problems. He said that due to schools being closed due to lack of students and teachers being sent to other schools on deputation, students are not getting government education in many places. In addition to this, due to the lack of proper infrastructure, non-provision of quality food, lack of cleanliness and safety in schools and welfare hostels, the Congress government has brought a situation where parents are afraid to admit children in government schools. He said that incidents happening in Gurukula schools in the last few days, poisonous food in hostels, unsafe conditions and incidents of schools are worrying.

KTR said that this is not good for the society of Telangana. It is the government's responsibility to provide quality education to poor and middle class students. He criticized Revanth Sarkar for finding lame excuses to escape from that responsibility. On this occasion, KTR reminded us of many programs which were undertaken by the BRS government to promote public education, that is during the ten-year rule of KCR. He also reminded students to eat thin rice and how hygenic the hostels used to be in their government. Besides he also said that their government has allotted 7289 Cr funds for schools. He said that "concrete buildings have also been arranged for the school through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. KCR has given special attention to all the measures to be taken systematically to strengthen the public education system. A breakfast scheme has also been introduced to prevent dropouts in schools. As a result, there has been a situation of competition for admissions in government schools like never before. He said that the Congress government should strengthen the path laid by KCR."

He asked why schools should be closed without focusing on their prevention and exploring the reasons for the decrease in enrollment of students in schools. KTR questioned whether this Chief Minister knows what is happening in the education system. The state does not have an education minister, added KTR.

KTR demanded that a committee consisting of educationists and ministers be formed to suggest the reasons for the decrease in the number of students in government schools and the measures to be taken to strengthen public education. He warned that if the government does not immediately focus on the problems of the education sector, the BRS will take up large-scale agitations. KTR said that if they do injustice to the parents of lakhs of poor students who depend on the education provided by the government, then they themselves will give due advice to the government.
