The opposition bloc, led by the Congress party, has filed a no-confidence motion against the Rajya Sabha Chairperson, Jagdeep Dhankhar, claiming that he has been biased in his handling of the House proceedings. The notice, signed by over 50 MPs from various parties, including the Trinamool Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, Samajwadi Party, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, and Rashtriya Janata Dal, was submitted to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat. The Congress leader, Jairam Ramesh, stated that the INDIA group parties had no choice but to formally file the no-confidence motion due to the Chairperson's extremely partisan approach. He acknowledged that it was a difficult decision, but necessary to protect parliamentary democracy. Trinamool MP Sagarika Ghosh further accused the government of "murdering Parliament" and said that the no-confidence motion was filed to assert their rights and safeguard parliamentary democracy, as they were not being allowed to raise the people's issues.

The given text suggests that the opposition lacks the necessary numbers to successfully remove the Rajya Sabha's deputy chairman, despite acting on principle. According to the rules, the motion to remove him requires a simple majority vote in both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, which the opposition does not have. The text also mentions that the notice for removal was submitted amidst chaos in both Houses, with the BJP and opposition parties accusing each other of not allowing Parliament to function and raise important issues.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, from the Congress party, told reporters that the reason for the House being adjourned was unclear. Meanwhile, Union Minister Giriraj Singh from the BJP accused the Congress of wrongdoing, questioning why they were not addressing the alleged connection between George Soros and Sonia Gandhi, and stating that they were preventing the House from functioning.

The commotion in the House on Monday sparked calls for a vote against Mr. Dhankhar. This came after the Bharatiya Janata Party criticized Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for alleged connections to businessman George Soros and a media organization partially funded by his foundation. JP Nadda, in the Rajya Sabha, claimed these links "malign India and raise national security concerns" and demanded a discussion. Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress counterpart, refuted Nadda's tirade, but was interrupted by shouting between MPs, leading to multiple adjournments. Kharge argued that Dhankhar allowed comments against Mrs. Gandhi despite rejecting 11 notices by BJP MPs to discuss this issue, and said the Leader of the House's statement was false and wrong to tarnish the image of an absent member.

The ruling party in India has accused a prominent individual, along with certain American agencies, of being part of a "triangle trying to destabilise India." They have labeled this individual a "traitor." These attacks by the BJP come as the opposition tries to raise issues like the violence in Uttar Pradesh and the US indictment against the Directors of a renewable energy company. This also follows a report claiming "hidden links" between an organization and the US government. The BJP has alleged that the organization, which was founded by the individual, publishes reports "targeting" India, and that these are then used by the opposition party to criticize the government and Indian business interests. The opposition party has firmly rejected these claims, asserting their patriotism. The US government has strongly reacted to the BJP's accusations, calling them disappointing.
