Disney+ goes Live in India with Hotstar

The Disney+ was expected to to be launched colliding with Hotstar and being re- branded to Disney+ Hotstar in India on the 29th of March, releasing all its original as well as back catalogue content to the Indian users.

The Streaming service Hotstar being re- branded to Disney+ Hotstar has been launched 18 days before to the expected launch date.

The former chairman and the Chief Executive Officer of Disney, Robert Iger has announced that the 29th of March would be the official launch date of Disney+ in India and therefore the Indian users were awestruck at the early launch that was done on Wednesday as many of the Indian users have been waiting eagerly for the content since Disney+ was launch in the United States of America during last year in the month of November.

Updating the app that is currently being used on Android or iOS would be providing the new interface and also new content to the users.

Excluding the Disney+ originals, there also exists a huge variety of content in the back catalogue of Disney which is said to include films like A Bug’s Life, documentary Free Solo, Captain America: Civil War and various other shows for children featuring different iconic Disney characters.

A statement has been made by Disney+ on the mobile app which said that Disney+ is very proud to bring the best stories of the world from the best story tellers at Disney, Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars and Nat Geo to the users in India and the best among them have also been dubbed in other languages like Hindu, Tamil and Telugu.

It has also been mentioned in the statement that there exists Kids mode where only the content suitable for children under certain age can be viewed by them.

The Disney+ Hotstar Premium subscription has been priced at Rs 299 per month in India and Rs 999 yearly Hotstar plan is also made available and also a Disney+ Hotstar VIP plan which would cost Rs 365 for a year.

Uday Shankar who is the president of Walt Disney Company Asia Pacific and also the chairman for Star and Disney India would be making an announcement on the 13th of March regarding the launch of the streaming service in India.
