Uber and Ola have announced that they will add free in-car WiFi connection to customers. Thus, WiFi is to come for free with their taxi on-demand services in India.
The US firm, Uber has tied up with Airtel mobile operator two days after it took funding from a top private equity fund. Uber passengers will now be allowed to use 4G internet for free during their rides on the service.
Free WiFi connection begins from Mumbai
Starting with Mumbai, 4G feature is expected to be rolled out throughout the country soon. Moreover, Uber will integrate payment service from Airtel, which connects mobile wallet service Paytm, debit/card cards and even cash as possible payment methods.
Ola also offers free WiFi
Ola is also offering internet though in a different manner. The SoftBank-backed firm, Ola has announced a benefits program this week, named ‘Ola Select’. Through this program, top users of the service would be rewarded with perks.
Top customers will enjoy offers with Ola’s partner companies like Myntra, a fashion commerce firm, besides free in-car WiFi. Top customers would be selected based on the frequency of trips made through Ola.
