The world No. 2 Serena Williams will skip IPTL's Singapore leg, IPTL director Mahesh Bhupathi confirmed. The Singaporean fans of American superstar are set to miss out on seeing the star yet again.
The tennis superstar will not be in town for the Singapore leg of this year's International Premier Tennis League (IPTL), that starts at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on December 6.
IPTL founder and Indian doubles player Mahesh Bhupathi, said that, "We were trying to get it done and we've had some challenges financially.”
"Serena has been supportive and she really wanted to come and play some matches before (the season starts in) Australia, but we couldn't get all the ducks lined up," he added.
Williams had played for the Singapore Slammers in the IPTL's inaugural season in 2014. She has not competed since early September after a defeat by Karolina Pliskova in the semi-finals of the US Open.
