Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan called music maestro AR Rahman an average artist on Thursday. The 'Jai Ho' actor was at the launch of 'Raunaq', a music album by master musician AR Rahman, which had been penned by Union Minister Kapil Sibal.
Salman, who was there to inaugurate the album, praised Sibal saying, "Kapil sir is a great lyricist."
After that Salman's faux pas on Rahman stating, "You all know what an average artist Rahman is. Right?" miffed the much-respected composer.
Rahman's ever present smile disappeared making Salman realize his folly. The 48-year-old actor tried to make light of the situation but the Oscar-winning composer remained poker faced to Sallu's comments.
The 'Kick' actor tried humour to placate the musician. Salman said that there were only things that he and Rahman had in common and that was 'Jai Ho'. But the quip didn't impress Rahman. Sallu miyan also requested Rahman to work with him but the composer remained unmoved.
Salman went on to brag about himself being the best person to inaugurate 'Raunaq' and stretched out his hand to Rahman. But the acclaimed music director did not reciprokate.
However, soon after that Rahman was seen with a cheerful smile when he posed for pictures with Salman and Sibal for the media.
