BJP leader Maneka Gandhi on Thursday stated that her son Varun Gandhi should use his mind instead of heart while making statements. Maneka's statement came a day after Varun praised estranged cousin Rahul Gandhi's work in Amethi.

Maneka said that her son's statement regarding Amethi's development was "not correct". She said that in the last 45 years there has been no development work in the constituency.

At the same time the BJP leader defended her son's statement saying that he was innocent but his heart was clean.   

On Wednesday Varun praised Rahul Gandhi, which was lapped up by the Congress leader. This left the BJP embarrassed and Varun quickly clarified that his statement should not be taken as an endorsement to a candidate or a political party.
