Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a visit to Vantara in Gujarat, a vast center dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation of wildlife, which is home to over 150,000 rescued and threatened animals across more than 2,000 species. He toured the facility to witness its extensive wildlife care initiatives firsthand. Within the high-tech wildlife hospital, featuring MRI and CT scanning capabilities as well as intensive care units, PM Modi took note of the advanced veterinary treatments available, including specialized areas for wildlife anesthesia, cardiology, nephrology, endoscopy, dentistry, and internal medicine. He observed procedures in action, including an Asiatic Lion undergoing an MRI and a leopard receiving urgent surgery following a road incident.

During his visit, the Prime Minister engaged in touching moments with the animals at the center, playing with and feeding cubs of the Asiatic Lion, a rare Clouded Leopard cub, and a White Lion cub that was born in Vantara after its mother's rescue. Additionally, he gained insights into the center’s initiatives, such as the Caracal breeding program essential for the survival of this dwindling species.

PM Modi's exploration of Vantara emphasized the center's dedication to creating naturalistic environments, evident in the expansive habitats for the animals. He interacted with impressive wildlife like Golden Tigers, Snow Leopards, and four Snow Tiger brothers that were saved from a circus. Furthermore, he spent time with rescued chimpanzees, a lively Orangutan, and witnessed submerged Hippopotamuses and crocodiles, and even had the chance to pet an Okapi. He walked among zebras and fed a giraffe along with a rhino calf orphaned due to the loss of its mother at the center. He also encountered a large python, an unusual two-headed snake, and a two-headed turtle.

The Prime Minister’s tour also highlighted elephants enjoying therapeutic hydrotherapy for arthritis and foot issues, showcasing Vantara’s commitment to animal health. He inspected the world's largest elephant hospital and observed the release of rescued parrots. PM Modi's visit concluded with meaningful interactions with the dedicated medical professionals, staff, and workers operating Vantara. This visit underscored Vantara’s important contribution to wildlife conservation and illustrated India's pledge towards protecting its natural heritage.
