The Rajya Sabha has ordered a high-level investigation after a bundle of cash was found on the seat of Congress MP Abhishek Singhvi. A committee with officials from security agencies, the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, and senior MPs will oversee the probe. The Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman, Jagdeep Dhankhar, informed the MPs that the cash bundle, worth ₹ 50,000 in ₹ 500 notes, was discovered after the House was adjourned the previous evening. Singhvi has stated that he was unaware of the cash, implying that it did not belong to him. To determine how the cash bundle ended up there, the CCTV footage from the House is being reviewed. The discovery was made during a routine anti-sabotage check, and the Rajya Sabha Secretariat was informed, placing the cash at the "lost and found" counter before informing the Vice President.

The text discusses the discovery of items left behind by members of Parliament after daily sessions. Security officials conduct routine checks and deposit any forgotten items at the lost and found counter. The statement by the Vice President about this matter sparked a reaction from both the ruling and opposition parties. A Congress leader expressed surprise, claiming he was only present in the Parliament for a brief period and could not have left anything behind. The opposition is now calling for an investigation into the incident. The entire property is under constant video surveillance around the clock. All of these factors must be investigated thoroughly. The current focus may be on cash, but the opposition voices may try to suggest something else in the future, she stated.
