Prashant Kishor, a former election strategist, has officially launched his political party called Jan Suraj. The party is expected to contest all seats in the next Bihar state election. It will be led by Manoj Bharti, a retired Indian Foreign Service officer. Kishor has said that if elected, the party will end the state's liquor prohibition and use the revenue to improve the education sector. Kishor has been advocating for a shift in the voting paradigm, from focusing on caste and electoral promises to a vision for the future. He had previously announced that he was ready to formally launch a political party, and his Jan Suraj party aims to provide the people of Bihar with a new alternative.
Prashant Kishor has proposed that the BJP's dominance should end and that the alternative should not be a dynastic political party, but rather a party formed by people who wish to do so. After a brief stint with the ruling Janata Dal United and an unsuccessful attempt to work with the Congress party, Kishor launched the Jan Suraj initiative. He declined an offer to join the Congress party's "Empowered Action Group," citing the party's lack of collective will to address deep-rooted structural problems. Kishor has now launched the Jan Sena, which he says is only halfway through his journey. He aims to visit every village in Bihar to educate residents on improving their living standards and encourage them not to vote under pressure from misguided leaders, but to work towards the progress of the state in areas like education, agriculture, and employment. The next stage of his initiative will be to present a blueprint of solutions for the challenges facing Bihar.
