Arvind Kejriwal, the current Chief Minister of Delhi, has decided to step down from his position. He has proposed Atishi Marlena, a prominent AAP leader, to take over as the new Chief Minister. Atishi, who was previously known by her full name, has decided to use just her first name in her public life. She comes from an academic family in Delhi, with her parents being professors at the University of Delhi. Atishi's educational journey started at Springdales School in Delhi, where she completed her high school education. Atishi has an impressive academic background, having obtained a bachelor's degree in History from the renowned St. Stephen's College in 2001. She further pursued her studies, earning a master's degree in History from Oxford University in 2003 on a prestigious Chevening scholarship, and later attending Magdalen College as a Rhodes scholar in 2005.

Atishi's political career began in 2013 when she joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). She played a significant role in policy formulation, drawing from her experiences during the Anti-Corruption Movement in India. Her activism gained recognition during the Jal Satyagraha protest in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, in 2015, where she supported AAP leader Alok Agarwal. Prior to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Atishi was appointed the party's in-charge for East Delhi. She contested the elections but faced a substantial defeat, finishing third against the BJP's Gautam Gambhir, with a loss margin of 4.77 lakh votes. However, the 2020 Delhi Legislative Assembly elections marked a significant turning point in her political journey. Contesting from the Kalkaji constituency in South Delhi, Atishi emerged victorious, defeating the BJP candidate Dharambir Singh by a margin of 11,422 votes. This win has propelled her to play a prominent role within the Delhi government.

Atishi was appointed as a Cabinet Minister in the Delhi government, taking on the roles previously held by Manish Sisodia and Satyender Jain. During the 2022-23 period, she served as the Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee and participated in various other committees, such as those focused on Women and Child Welfare, Minority Welfare, and Education.
