VK Sasikala, a former close aide of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha. She announced her comeback into politics on Sunday. She addressed the media on Sunday at her Poes Garden residence in Chennai. Sasikala said that her party AIADMK (All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) once was the third largest party in the country and now in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the party had miserably failed and fallen into third and fourth position. Sasikala was fondly called “Chinamma” by her party loyalists and Chinamma is now turning out to be the saviour of the party. She conveyed that AIADMK is not nearing its end and will soon show its comeback. Sasikala also said that after seeing many successive electoral defeats, now is the time for her party to decide whether to suffer defeats or get back to success. She vowed to bring back AIADMK into power in the 2026 assembly elections. She conveyed that we will form Amma’s (Jayalalitha was fondly called as Amma in Tamil Nadu) government in 2026 with an absolute majority. After the death of Amma, AIADMK was in power for a while but failed to regain its power in the next election. Sasikala failed to keep her party united. Sasikala was far from politics in recent times but is planning for a comeback. She said that even her party failed to question the opposition properly. She expressed her belief in the Tamil Nadu public and said that the people of Tamil Nadu are still with them. AIADMK has fallen to 66 seats in Tamil Nadu in 2021 elections from 136 in 2016. While DMK has surged to 133 seats from 44 seats in 2016.

Sasikala also addressed that boycotting Vikravandi bypoll was a wrong decision. She indirectly took a dig at AIADMK chief Palaniswami. Edappadi K Palaniswami is currently taking care of AIADMK, which failed in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Sasikala pointed out that the reason for the fall of AIADMK is only because of selfish people. She expressed her confidence in winning back in elections by referring to the principles of MG Ramachandran, founder of the party. She intends to forgive people and says that she will take people along with her on her comeback political journey. Sasikala is all said to embark on her yatra soon in Tamil Nadu. Sasikala after releasing from jail in February 2021 was taking part in active politics, but on 3rd March she changed her mind and did not support Dhinakaran after he decided to participate in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election with AMMK ( Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam, founded by former MP TTV Dhinakaran. AMMK was founded at Melur on 15th March 2018. All members were part of AIADMK party, which was separated after the death of Amma).
