Within a day, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the alleged sex video involving Karnataka MP Prajwal Revanna has summoned the grandson of JD(S) patriarch and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda to appear before them for questioning. The SIT has also sent a notice to his father, JD(S) MLA H D Revanna. The Karnataka government formed a separate team to investigate a series of explicit videos circulating in the Hassan district. These videos supposedly feature Prajwal Revanna from the Janata Dal (Secular) party, with some showing acts of sexual assault. Prajwal, who was the joint candidate for the BJP-JD(S) alliance in the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, left the country after the elections on April 26. The Janata Dal (Secular) has suspended Prajwal from the party until the investigation is complete, as decided in a core committee meeting on Tuesday. Prajwal's former driver, Kailash, denied
The driver alleged that he entrusted the judge with a copy of the videos in order to assist in lifting the stay that Prajwal Revanna had placed on their release. On the other hand, Gowda has refuted claims that either the JD(S) or the BJP will make the videos public. Meanwhile, JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy has distanced himself from the situation, asserting that they will not protect Prajwal. The Congress party has accused the BJP of aiding Prajwal in escaping the country. However, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has criticized the Congress party for failing to take action despite the presence of a Congress government in the state. The father-son duo has been charged under IPC sections 354A (sexual abuse), 354D (stalking), 506 (threat), and 509 (insult caused to the modesty of a woman).
