Arvind Kejriwal, the detained Chief Minister, has been placed in Judicial Custody until April 15th by the Rouse Avenue Court. This is in connection with a money laundering case related to the Delhi Excise Policy scam. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had requested a 15-day judicial custody for Kejriwal, citing his uncooperative behavior during questioning. The ED's representative, ASG SV Raju, informed the court that additional time is needed to interrogate Kejriwal in order to confront him with others involved in the case. They are also recording statements from some AAP Goa candidates.
The ED has accused Kejriwal of being the main conspirator in the case, alleging that he received substantial kickbacks from the 'South Group' in exchange for favoring the group in the formulation of the excise policy. These kickback funds were allegedly used during the Punjab and Goa elections. Kejriwal was brought before the Rouse Avenue Court as his previous custody ended on Monday. His wife, Sunita, along with their two children and key cabinet colleagues such as Saurabh Bhardwaj, Atishi, and Gopal Rai, were present during the hearing.
