India On High Alert After The First Monkeypox Death

A series of monkeypox cases are reported in the country and the Centre alerted all the states. The cases are majorly reported in Kerala and the close contacts of the patients are traced and they are kept in isolation to prevent the further spread of monkeypox. The first monkeypox death has been reported in the country yesterday. A 22-year-old man who had no typical symptoms passed away. He was tested positive for monkeypox in UAE on July 21st and he flew down to Kerala. The man had no symptoms and his health condition was stable. The Union Health Ministry formed a Special Task Force to monitor the cases and situation of monkeypox in the country.

He was admitted to a hospital in Ernakulam after he had minor symptoms for monkeypox. He was later moved to a private hospital in Thrissur on July 27th and he had no health issues. His health condition deteriorated on Friday and he passed away yesterday. All the 20 close contacts, family members and friends are kept under isolation in Thrissur. The National Institute of Virology in Pune is conducting the tests for monkeypox and the samples are sent to Pune. Kerala Health Minister Veena Geogre directed the officials and initiated an investigation. The nation is kept under high alert after the new cases of monkeypox are increasing. The World Health Organization (WHO) warned the countries to be extra cautious about monkeypox.
