The island is being built in the middle of a reservoir at the Lower Manair Dam in Karimnagar. The cost of the project will be Rs. 20 crores.

An island is being set up at Karimnagar for visitors which is made of natural rock and lies in the middle of a massive reservoir and the island overlooks a dam.

The island will be connected with a half kilometer cable suspension bridge and will be engulfed with manicured gardens and tall treens dotting the hillock.

The island will have all the facilities including restaurants and guest rooms. People can now come over to Karimnagar to have an exciting and pleasant weekend.

You can also hold your private and corporate functions, weddings, and any other congregations.

If our guess is true, this island will be the next destination wedding site to all the couples.

This touristic hot spot has been named as KCR island. The dam, island, the suspension bridge, and other attractions within a short range are expected to change the face of Karimnagar from now.

The Karimnagar Municipal corporation has taken up the project of building KCR island under the Karimnagar city renovation programme. The corporation is leaving no stone unturned to make this island the next biggest tourist attraction in India.

Sadly, many natural resources created by the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme are being exploited for building this project.

Civil supplies minister Gangula Kamalakar said that a detailed project report has been submitted to the state government and once it is approved, the tenders will be invited.

The work on this island to make it a tourist place is expected to start very soon.

The minister stated that the decision to develop KCR island has been taken keeping in mind the water availability throughout the year. The project is a part of several initiatives to ensure Karimnagar emerges as a major tourism spot in the coming year.

The KCR island project is estimated to cost up to Rs. 20 crores and the tourism department has already given its nod to take up the first phase of the work of this project which would cost Rs. 5 crores.

The KMC has already allocated Rs. 3 crores for the project from Rs. 100 crores which have been allocated by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao.

The hillock, Mysammagutta on the island in the middle of LMD has been identified for the development under this project.

The project’s design works were given to a Bengaluru based architecture firm and the company representatives have already visited the spot and approved it.

The amenities of this tourist spot will include entrance lobby, glassed banquet hall, 5 premium suite rooms, 18 bamboo cottages with Indonesian architecture, a floating restaurant with the seating of 40 persons, floating bridges for candle light dinners, separate swimming pools for children and adults and two elevated bridges for sight seeing.

Kamalakar, who represents the Karimnagar assembly is likely to visit the spot in a day or two and will discuss the project details with the officials.

KCR island will become the crowning glory of the Karimnagar town after this project.
