KT Rama Rao (KTR), the working president of Telangana's Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), issued strong criticism against the ruling Congress party for exaggerating a minor issue related to the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project, turning a minor crack in a pillar into an exaggerated concern. These remarks from KTR followed his father, former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), appearing before the PC Ghose Commission, which is investigating alleged irregularities in what is touted as one of the world's largest irrigation projects.

"I want to point out that while no barrage or bridge has been compromised, only two of the 300 pillars have shown signs of cracking. This, however, has been blown out of proportion into a monumental concern, leading to the formation of a commission," KTR remarked.
He raised the question of whether the government has taken accountability for the more than 140 casualties resulting from the Morbi bridge disaster in Gujarat in October 2022. KTR claimed that the National Dam Safety Authority was absent during the collapse of the diaphragm wall at Andhra Pradesh's Polavaram project in 2020.
"The National Dam Safety Authority wasn't present when a tunnel fell within the Srisailam Left Bank Canal project about three months ago, leading to eight fatalities. Incidents of bridge collapses in Bihar occur weekly," he stated. "In these situations, there is no serious follow-up from authorities, and investigations do not take place if it doesn't align with the interests of either the BJP or Congress," KTR asserted.
He also indicated that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy harbors envy towards KCR's achievements with the Kaleshwaram project, suggesting that this jealousy drives the Congress leader to portray the initiative negatively.
