Recently, Trump has issued an executive order for ByteDance to divest its interests in TikTok’s operations in the US within 90 days.

US President Donald Trump has indicated that his administration is planning to ban other chinese-owned companies including Alibaba in the United States. Alibaba is a Chinese e-commerce giant which has its biggest market in the US.

The development came after Trump had recently issued an executive order on August 14 which mandated ByteDance to divest its interest in the TikTok operations in the country.

Trump issued an order on Friday which stated that he has credible evidence that ByteDance might take actions that would lead to impairment of the National Security in the country. In an earlier order, Trump had prohibited the China-based company from doing business with the US firms after 45 days.

However, Tik Tok has already initiated a legal action against the US government for its first executive order against TikTok.

The new executive order by Trump asked ByteDance to divulge any user data that it might have acquired from the TikTok users of the United States.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, earlier in this month has said that the Trump administration is working hard to protect Americans from the threats of untrusted Chinese vendors like TikTok and WeChat.

The Trump administration is also mulling to remove these apps from US app stores like those operated by Apple and Google. US Politicians have repeatedly criticized TikTok which is owned by ByteDance, a Beijing based startup, of being a National threat to the citizens of America because of its ties with the Chinese communist party.

China and the US have been at loggerheads for various issues including the Hong Kong national security law, the south China sea, the coronavirus and the trade.

Trump has openly accused China of not controlling the virus spread from its country though it had the capacity to stop. Trump has also banned Chinese giant Huawei to sell its electronic products in the country.

China is facing a tough time with both India and the US lately. Indian government has also banned 59 apps of China including TikTok, WeChat, VivaVideo, ShareIt, Helo and many prominent apps among others.

India has also imposed restrictions on its imports of color Tv’s recently to check the influx of China’s TV’s into the country. Only those countries who are in a free trade agreement with India are allowed to export goods to the country of which China has no agreement and is till now sending goods through third parties.

All these restrictions by India came after the gruesome galwan valley tiff between China and India in May, 2020.
