Ayodhya Railway Station Ready for Make-Over with Modern Facilities

Along with laying the foundation stone for the construction of Ram Temple, Ayodhya’s railway station is also underway for a makeover work Rs. 104 crore.

The first phase of new Ayodhya railway station with modern amenities will be completed by June 2021 according to Indian Railways. The railway station will have a theme of Ayodhya’s Ram Temple.

As preparations for the construction of Ram Temple are in full swing, the Ayodhya’s railway station will also see a makeover simultaneously. Just when the Ram temple’s construction will be completed, the brand new railway station will receive devotees from across India to Ayodhya.

The construction of the Ram mandir in Ayodhya is expected to be completed by 2023-24.

Divisional Railway Manager, Sanjay Tripathi said that continuous efforts are being made to ensure a new outlook to the railway station so that when pilgrims come to Ayodhya for Ram Temple they will have all modern facilities at the station.

He also said that the plan to modernize the railway station was taken by the Railway officials as Ayodhya will become a holy city in the coming years.

After the long-awaited temple’s construction, Ayodhya is likely to attract devotees from all over the world. The battle has been a long one for Hindus to get their right to build a temple at Ram Janmabhoomi.

The Indian Railways had earlier dedicated Rs. 80 crore for the new modernized station building but was increased to Rs. 104 crore recently.

According to Jagtosh Shukla, Senior Divisional Manager, Northern Railway, Lucknow, the station building is being constructed by RITES Enterprise of Railways.

The construction of the new Railway station building will be done in two phases. In the first phase, the construction of platform number 1 and 2 or 3 will be completed along with developing the present circulating and the holding area.

In the second phase after the platforms are constructed, the station’s building will be the prime focus and other facilities will also be developed.

At present, the work is going on for the renovation of internal and external premises of the station like expanding the ticket counters, the extension of the waiting rooms, construction of 3 air conditioned waiting rooms, 17-bed male dormitory with toilet and 10-bet female dormitory with toilet.

More special facilities like a foot over bridge, food plaza, additional toilets, and other shops will also be constructed.

Apart from these, a taxi booth, tourist center, VIP lounge, auditorium, and a special guest house will also come up at the station.

The Bumi Pujan ceremony of the Ram Temple is scheduled to be held on August 5 but as Home Minister Amit Shah has contracted the coronavirus, the decision on having the ceremony is still pending.
