An encounter happenedin Tral area of south Kashmir region which broke out on Thursday killed 3 terrorists. The encounter went on till the Friday morning. 2 armed officers may be injured.
Amid this coronavirus situation the things on the border are not getting any better. First there was the Galwan Valley Line of Action Control where Chinese People Liberation Army Troops killed 20 Indian soldiers in the face-off and now there is another gunfight which broke out in Chewa Ullar which is a small area 3km away from Tral. Tral is in the Pulwama district of South Kashmir.
It started with a gun battle between the militants and security forces. The gun battle started on Thursday evening and went on till Friday morning. In this gun battle three militants were killed. Mobile internet service has been snapped in Awantipora police district
Though the gun battle was briefly halted on the Thursday night, it went on through the night and until the morning. Locals could hear the gunshots in the area through the night. One militant was killed last night and 2 of them were encountered this morning. Officials have also confirmed that all the 3 militants are dead and are the local youth in the Tral area. The local youth had taken up arms to join militancy.
This entire encounter started when a joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles and Central Police Reserve Force (CPRF) had launched a cordon and search operation of specific information about the presence of terrorists in the area. After gaining the specific information regarding the availability of militants the joint team forces immediately went to the hiding spot of the militants.
The officials have also confirmed that in the search operation of the joint team, the forces had approached the area where the terrorists were hiding. The hiding terrorists started a gun fire upon the officials of the forces which was retaliated and triggered an encounter.
In June alone, the officials have killed 33 militants in the South Kashmir region so far. This Tral encounter was he 12th encounter in the month of June. Since the beginning of the year 2020, officials have killed more than 100 militants in various operations. These encounters happened when the security forces stepped up the offensive in the Kashmir valley. Most of the encounters happened in the South Kashmir region as it is considered the hotbed of militancy in the region.
Apart from the 3 militants who were killed in the encounter, two armed forces personnel may also suffered some injuries.
