India strongly condemned the attack at Nankana Sahib Gurudwara in Pakistan on Friday and has called upon the Pakistan government to ensure the welfare of the members of the Sikh community and also the safety and security by taking immediate steps.

“We are concerned at the vandalism carried out at the revered Nankana Sahib Gurdwara today. Members of the minority Sikh community have been subjected to acts of violence in the holy city of Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji. These reprehensible actions followed the forcible abduction and conversion of Jagjit Kaur, the Sikh girl who was kidnapped from her home in the city of Nankana Sahib in August last year,” as stated by the MEA.

Amarinder Singh the chief minister of Punjab and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) have also expressed their concern over the mob attack that took place on the Nankana Sahib gurdwara in Pakistan. An appeal has been made by Singh to Imran Khan, the Pakistan premier, to ensure the rescue of the devotees that have been stranded in the mob. Sukhbir Singh Badal the chief of SAD has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take up the issue with his counterpart in Pakistan.

Punjab CM has tweeted saying, “Appeal to @ImranKhanPTI to immediately intervene that the devotees stranded in Gurdwara Nankana Sahib are rescued and the historic gurdwara is saved from the angry mob surrounding it.”

In a statement that has been issued, the president of SAD, Badal said that he was shocking to see that the local administration in Nankana Sahib remained a mute spectator to the violence unleashed by the mob.
