Nirmala Sitharaman, the Finance Minister of India has been named among the 100 most powerful women of the world by Forbes magazine.

HCL corporation’s chief executive officer(CEO) and executive director Roshni Nadar Malhotra and Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw have also been included in the list, other than Sitharaman.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel topped the list of ‘The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women’, says a report.

Sheikh Hasina, the Prime minister of Bangladesh has also been figured in the list and has ranked the 29th most powerful woman in the world.

"In 2019, women around the globe took action, claiming leadership positions in government, business, philanthropy and media. These trailblazers are not to be messed with," Forbes said.

Sitharaman has also served as the Defence Minister in the previous term and is currently the Finance Minister. Being a newcomer to the Forbes most powerful women list, she has been ranked 34th in the list of 100 most powerful women.

HCL CEO Roshni Nadar Malhotra at 54th position and Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar Shaw at 65th position were the other Indians on the list.
