Ola Cabs CEO Bhavish Aggarwal's paternal grandmother, Pushpawati Aggarwal (84), and aunt, Dr Sarita Aggarwal (57), were murdered on 29 January 2016 in Ludhiana. The family's domestic help Puja has made a blank call from her mobile phone to the control room, less than an hour before the murders.

According to senior police officials, the call was made at 12.43pm on that day and it lasted for just two seconds. This seems like the only clue that Ludhiana police have. The murder was committed at around 1.30pm on that day. Sources said that no efforts were made by police to track the call.

Unknown assailants have brutally assaulted and killed them both at their home in Sher-e-Punjab colony. Both women had multiple injuries on the head, arms, throat and legs. Kitchen knives were spotted by police on the spot. One of them was broken. The autopsy report indicated the use of a hammer too.

Dr Sarita is a gynaecologist and wife of cardiologist Dr Rakesh Aggarwal. He is the younger brother of N K Aggarwal, Bhavish's father. The OLA CEO has attended the funeral on Sunday.

The Aggarwal family is upset with the Puja allowed to go by the police, without proper interrogation. Dr N K Aggarwal said, "How could they let her off without finding out why and under what circumstances did she make a call to the control room? It seems they are acting under pressure."

Cops are tight-lipped about the investigations. Ludhiana deputy commissioner of police Narindra Bhargav said, "It does not look like a case of robbery. It could be a case of old enmity but it would be too early to come to a conclusion. We have got clues in the case."
