This is designed to keep conversations secure. However, a new report indicates that WhatsApp is developing a feature called “spoiler messages” to add extra privacy to the chats. A video released by WABetaInfo on X displays a new tool in WhatsApp that can obscure messages with a blurred effect. This could assist users who wish to share sensitive info, like a one-time password or phone number, in a secure way. To use the spoiler message feature, all you need to do is type or paste your message into the text box. Next, perform a long press on the text to select it. After selecting the text, you will find options like Translate, Cut, Copy, and Select all. In addition to these choices, there will be three dots present. Clicking on the three dots will show more options, including Share, Undo, Bold, Italic, Strikethrough, Monospace, Spoiler, and Manage App in a list. Choose the Spoiler option and then just send the message. If WhatsApp releases this feature soon — as it is reportedly in testing now — you’ll see your message sent as blurred text.

When the message reaches the recipient's device, it will show up as unclear text. To see the actual message, the recipient will need to tap on it. This feature is for those who want to send a message without revealing everything right away. The spoiler message function is designed to help prevent accidental spoilers. In group chats, it can also be used when you don’t want everyone to see the same information simultaneously. According to the report, this feature will work with both text messages and media captions. Currently, it is still in the testing stage. Beta testers might soon get to try it, and if it successfully launches in the near future, as WABetaInfo suggests, it may also include support for images and videos.
