Imagine wearing a pair of contact lenses that works like a television screen? Yes, you read that right.
If you have ever dreamt of a sci-fi future in which neon interfaces swim in front of your vision and information gets projected onto our eyes, you are two steps closer to realizing your dream.
Bellevue, a Washington-based Innovega is all set to launch its iOptik system, a special contact lenses that can directly read the light from projectors fitted to glasses.
The tiny 'screens' sit directly on a users' eyeballs and work with a pair of lightweight glasses.
Together, they provide an experience equivalent to watching a 240-inch television at a distance of 10 feet, according to Innovega's chief executive Steve Willey.
The glasses come with built-in micro-projectors. The contact lenses, however, are more complex devices.
“They can be worn on their own and only function with the iOptik software when a user looks through the company's paired glasses,” write dailymail.co.uk.
You can use this device with smartphones or portable game devices to deliver video - or switch to a translucent 'augmented reality' view.
