Police in Pune arrested the father of a 17-year-old boy involved in a fatal car accident that killed two people, Anis Awadhiya and AshwiniKoshta. The accident happened in the early hours of Sunday morning in Pune'sKalyani Nagar area when the boy, driving a luxury Porsche, collided with a motorcycle. The visuals of the car were captured on the CCTV and it was droven at a speed of 200 kmph in a small narrow lane in the city. Pune's Crime Branch is handling the case now. The Pune police have charged the boy's father when the decision is awaited from the Sessions Court. The boy's father was booked under the IPC sections of 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act.AneeshAwadhiya and AshwiniKoshta, both IT engineers, were returning from a get-together when their bike was hit from behind by the speeding Porsche, killing them instantly.

The crash caused by a minor has sparked outrage due to the legal drinking age in Maharashtra being 25. The establishment that served him is now facing charges for breaking the law. Despite this, the Juvenile Justice Board granted the minor bail just 15 hours after detention, leading to criticism of their leniency. The board imposed conditions of counselling, a de-addiction program, and a 300-word essay on road safety. Pune police have filed an application to try the juvenile as an adult, stating that the severity of the accident warrants harsher scrutiny. The police have also taken legal action against the pub that served the minor. Commissioner Kumar confirmed that yesterday's incident was taken seriously and action was taken under section 304 of IPC as it was a heinous crime.
