BS Yediyurappa resigns as Karnataka Chief Minister

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa broke down and submitted his resignation keeping an end to all the speculations that he would be sacked soon. BS Yediyurappa met the Governor after lunch and his resignation was accepted. Days before his ouster, BS Yediyurappa submitted his resignation right after two years after taking charge in the state. He turned emotional saying that the government supported the farmers and Dalits in the state. The 78-year-old politician said that he worked for strengthening the party in the state. He hails from the Lingayat community which holds 17 percent of the population in Karnataka. BS Yediyurappa during his press interaction said that no one pressurized him to resign. BS Yediyurappa said that he would work with BJP in the future and wanted a capable person to take over the charge as the Chief Minister of the state.

"I have not given anybody's name as my successor. I am grateful to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP Chief JP Nadda for the opportunity. I also thank the people of the state along with the voters of my constituency who voted for me. I have taken the decision couple of days back and the Governor accepted my resignation. BS Yediyurappa has been asked to continue as the caretaker CM till the new Chief Minister is appointed. I will continue to support the party completely" told BS Yediyurappa.

"It has been an honor to have served the state for the past two years. I have decided to resign as the Chief Minister of Karnataka. I am humbled and sincerely thank the people of the state for giving me the opportunity to serve them. I am grateful to PM @narendramodi Ji, @JPNadda Ji & @AmitShah Ji for their support" posted BS Yediyurappa on his Twitter page. BS Yediyurappa said that he hasn't received any suggestions from the high command about the new Chief Minister of the state.
