US town has set up a scholarship in honour to an Indian origin emergency health worker. The scholarship fund is being set up in Hinal Patel’s native town in New jersey.
Hinal Patel (22) died in July, this year, while on the line of duty enroute to reach an accident site. A car hit her ambulance when she was hurrying to assist a routine call.
Her final shift for Spotswood EMS was operated by the Piscataway native, at the time of her death. She wanted to continue her studying at the Graduate School of Biomedical Science at Rutgers University and wishing to become a doctor.
According to the tapinto.net, the scholarship will be awarded every year to a deserving student at the Spotswood high school to keep alive the memory of Hinal Patel.
A local family of the native town is pitching in to collect the fund for the scholarship. The Kloos family performs a yearly tradition of decorating their homes with light for holidays. The neighboring residents are visiting their home and donating money for the scholarship.
