Indian-origin man praised by British judge

A British judge praised an Indian-origin man for courageously defending himself in a scuffle with robbers at his convenience store in Bradford. Thirty-year-old Bhavin Patel suffered permanent damage to his right hand while fighting the robbers at P N’k convenience store on Huddersfield Road, Wyke that he runs with his family, reported the Telegraph and Argus on Wednesday. The incident was captured on the shop's CCTV cameras, which was played out in the court.

While praising Patel’s courage, the judge said that he had offered an important service to the community. The convicts Thompson, 26, of York House and Simpson, 33, of Falkland Road pleaded guilty of the robbery charge on Tuesday. The judge sentenced them to five years and nine months in jail for the crime.
