Hollywood actress, Angelina Jolie has revealed in an interview that she has undergone surgery to avoid the risk of ovarian cancer.

Jolie, 39, made a public announcement by saying that she has had her fallopian and ovaries tubes removed after two years to avoid the disease that killed her mother at the age of 36.

Jolie, mother-of-six had a double mastectomy after hearing she had also inherited a high risk of breast cancer. She said doctors had told her she had a 50% risk of ovarian cancer due to an inherited genetic mutation.

"I feel feminine, and grounded in the choices I am making for myself and my family. I know my children will never have to say, 'Mom died of ovarian cancer,'" Jolie wrote.

Jolie underwent the laproscopic bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy last week.

Jolie revealed that she was readying herself physically as well as emotionally, discussing options with doctors, doing research for alternative ways and mapping her hormones for estrogen or prostrogen replacement.

Angelina conducted the medical tests every year because of her family history.

The actress feels deeply for women for whom this moment comes early in life and they have children to be looked after. According to the Oscar winner, it was not easy to make these decisions.

She has really inspired a lot of other woman to fight cancer in positive way.
