Chetan Bhagat's latest book 'Half Girlfriend' is all set to be adapted into a film. The makers of the on-screen version of the novel are looking for a suitable actor to play the lead role. And Bollywood is buzz with reports that  Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor are the strongest contenders for the role.

However, both the actors are busy with other projects and there is date issue that needs to be worked out by the filmmakers. Ranveer will soon start shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani. While Ranbir Kapoor has a couple of films, including Imtiaz Ali's Tamasha, before he can take on a fresh project.

The filmmakers, however, have not made any official confirmation over who will play the lead stars in the upcoming film.  

Mohit Suri will direct the film, while Ekta Kapoor is producing.  

The script of Half Girlfriend requires a Gen X heartthrob in the lead roles. So the makers of the film are keen on signing either Ranveer or Ranbir as the lead actor. Chetan Bhagat's last book '2 States' was also adapted into a film. The film, which had Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor in lead roles, was a big hit.
