Nimrat Kaur will play the role of Akshay Kumar's wife in his upcoming film 'Airlift'. The Lunchbox actress has been roped in to play a strong character in the action-drama.

Nimrat had impressed critics with her brilliant performance of a lonely housewife in film ‘The Lunchbox’.

‘Airlift’ is a commercial flick where Nimrat will star opposite Akshay.

Producer Bhusha Kumar says that they were looking for an actress with a strong personality for the project. Nimrat will play wife to Akshay Kumar in the film. Her character will provide strong emotional support to the lead character.

Nimrat did justice to her role in the previous film and made a strong mark in Bollywood, said Bhusha Kumar, while adding that he was happy that Nimrat was on board the project.
Raja Krishna Menon will direct the action film. Bhushan Kumar's T-Series, Cape of Good Films, Crouching Tigers and Emmay Entertainment are producing the project.

The film centres on a business tycoon (played by Akshay Kumar) who helps in the world's biggest human evacuation made from Kuwait.

Shooting for the movie will start in March 2015.
