Yesteryear Bollywood actress Nanda passed away on Tuesday morning. The veteran actress was 75 years old.
Nanda is best remembered for her role in hit films like Gumnaam (1965) and Hum Dono (1961).
Nanda was the daughter of Vinayak Damodar Karnataki, an actor-director in Marathi film. The actress, who had a film background, debuted as a child artist. Her first film was V Shantaram’s ‘Toofan Aur Diya'.
She acted in quite a few superhit Bollywood movies like ‘Jab Jab Phool Khile', 'Dulhan', ‘Bhabhi', are some of them. Nanda's last film was in ‘Prem Rog' (1983) that had Rishi Kapoor and Padmini Kolhapure in the lead role.
During her youth she was engaged to be married to Manmohan Desai. But he died in a freak accident after falling off his apartment’s terrace. After this incident legendary actress chose to remain unmarried.
