Senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh will file his nomination papers today for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Barmer in Rajasthan. Singh will contest elections as an independent candidate as he was not given a ticket of his choice.

The senior BJP leader's move is an indication of the intra-party dispute within the saffron party.

Besides, there have been strong rumours that Singh might quit BJP. However, the former Union finance minister quashed the speculation on Monday saying that he's not doing any such thing. But party workers want him to quit, he added.

On Sunday, Singh's supporters gave him a hero's welcome with garlands at various places.

He even addressed the gatherings at several places asking them to stay with him and vote for him, said Ram Singh, a supporter.

In the 15th Lok Sabha Jaswant Singh was an MP from Darjeeling. BJP has now given the seat to SS Ahluwalia, who was previously with the Congress.

Following this Singh wanted a ticket from Barmer but the BJP named Colonel Sonaram, who joined BJP recently after quitting Congress, for the Lok Sabha constituency.

On Saturday, Jaswant Singh had stated that "outsiders" were taking over the BJP and there was an urgent need to distinguish between the "real" and "fake" within the saffron party.
